Essar Steel's Indonesian arm FY'15 Net jumps to USD 3.79m

Essar Steel's Indonesian arm PT Essar Indonesia today reported a net profit of USD 3.79 million for the year ended March 31, 2015, against a profit of USD 0.16 million in previous fiscal.

The company reported a 2 per cent dip in its revenue to USD 252 million in 2014-15 fiscal.

The marginal dip in revenues is due to depreciation in Indonesian Rupiah. The company had a revenue ofUSD 257.10 million in 2013-14, the company said in a statement.

The company had produced 3.12 lakh tonnes of cold rolled and hot dipped galvanized steel coils and sheets in the year ago period, it said.

National policy on trade for retail will boost sector

Coimbatore: The Retailers Association of India today stressed the need for a National Policy on trade for retail, which is estimated at USD 560 billion.

The retail business was growing at a tremendous pace, which has, however, impediments like different rules and regulations, under Shop and Establishment Act, governed by state governments, RAI CEO Kumar Ragagopalan told reporters here.

States like Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan have expressed their willingness for creating a retail policy, in consultation with RAI, Rajagopalan said, adding in the larger interest of trade across the country, which contribute 15 per cent to the GDP, there should be a state level retail policy.

XLRI-SHRM launches new HR programme

* XLRI, Jamshedpur, along with SHRM, today launched an integrated HR Executive certificate programme, that will provide working professionals a comprehensive understanding of Human Resource Management.

This is a five month program which will be delivered through interactive virtual classroom sessions (three hours a week) allowing active interactions between fellow students and faculty.
