Essel Group officials told reporters here yesterday that launching of Chandra here is a part of a larger plan to introduce comprehensive wellness concepts across the Middle East in phases.
These concepts will include unique beauty care and anti-ageing products, a natural health and wellness network, television channel, and introduction of Veria brand of Ayurvedic cosmetics and supplements, which are at present being marketed in the US.
"Chandra products are made with herbal extracts and natural ingredients. It uses state-of-the-art scientific technology worked out by in-house R&D unit," Essel Group Executive President Nauman said.
He said Chandra will initially focus on product packs aimed at businesses like beauty parlours.
"Chandra's entry into the regional market comes in the backdrop of an increased awareness among the local population on natural and healthy lifestyle and a rise in demand for toxic chemical free herbal beauty products," he said.
Quoting independent statistics, he said natural beauty care products are showing a significant market expansion in the range of 12 to 15 per cent. "It is estimated that for skin and beauty care products, the UAE market alone would cross USD 500 million by 2015," Nauman said.
