Estonia Minister calls on TN CM, discusses trade ties

: Republic of Estonia, Minister of Entrepreneurship and Information Technology, Urve Palo today called on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami and discussed strengthening of trade ties between her country and the State.

The Minister during her brief visit to the city, called on Palaniswami, Minister for Information and Technology M Manikandan and senior government officials at the Secretariat and discussed "strengthening of bilateral ties between Tamil Nadu and Estonia," a press release said.

Senior government officials from her country including the Ambassador of Estonia to India, Riho Kruuv were also present on the occasion, it said.

Later, the Minister and her delegates met industrialists and members of trade body Confederation of Indian Industry.
 

"The focus of the visit was on bilateral cooperation in Information and Communication Technology sectors, cyber security, e-governance and smart cities," it said.

Trivitron Group of Companies, Chairman and Managing Director, G S K Velu was appointed Honorary Consul of the Republic of Estonia in Chennai.

He would work towards strengthening the relations between India and Estonia by promoting business, culture, tourism, education.

A Honorary Consulate in Chennai was also unveiled by the Minister on the occasion.
