In three incidents of alleged robbery in three villages under Pilua Kotwali in the district, about a dozen armed dacoits looted cash and jewelery worth over Rs 5 lakh, killing one person and injuring four others in the process, police said today.
In the first incident, the dacoits barged into the home of one Veer Raj at the Harsinghpur village last night and looted jewelery and cash worth 5 lakh, police said.
They strangulated to death Raj's mother-in-law, Gyan Devi (70), who was staying with him, and beat up and injured his cousin Jyoti (17), they added.

On their way out from Raj's home they looted a mobile phone and ring from another person called Rajeev.
The same dacoits then entered Nangla Pusa village and "raided" one Roshanlal's house, police said adding that they then went to Kakrawali village on the way.
At Kakrawala village they entered one Om Prakash's home and beat up and injured his wife Chandrawati and daughter Ishu (16) duirng their attempt to loot.
While leaving the village the dacoits came across one Dharmendra, guard at a cowshed, and injured him by beating, police said.
Etah SSP SK Singh said that the Pilua police station SHO Dheeraj Singh has been sent to police line for alleged dereliction of duty.
He said investigation is on but no arrest or recovery has been made as of now.
