Biofuel made from biomass or ethanol can help bring the current account deficit of the nation, former BJP national president Nitin Gadkari said.

Ethanol is the best alternative to petroleum products, Gadkari, who is also Founder Chairman of the Purti Group of Industries said, at a national exhibition for farmers.

"Our petroleum import is the basic reason for our nation's current account deficit. With the help of biomass and agriculture waste we can manufacture ethanol which can be used in automobiles. The Purti Group has already started ethanol production for selling it to petroleum companies," he said.

Biomass based ethanol production can bring more money and employment to youth and farmers, he said.
