Gulf carrier Etihad Airways commenced its services to Jaipur today, with a daily flight from Abu Dhabi, making it the 10th destination for the airline in the country.

Etihad has deployed an Airbus A320 with a two-class configuration of 16 business class seats and 120 economy class seats, to cater to the sector, a company release said today.

With the launch of its Jaipur flight, Etihad, which recently bought a 24 per cent share in domestic private carrier Jet Airways for Rs 2060 crore, now caters to ten cities in India including Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mumbai, New Delhi and Trivandrum.

"The addition of the Jaipur service reinforces Etihad Airways' commitment to the Indian subcontinent. We are confident that new flights will continue the strong passenger growth between India and the UAE," Etihad Airways' regional general manager for Asia Pacific North and Indian Subcontinent Craig Thomas said.

The new service will provide travellers from Jaipur with seamless connections to the Gulf region and the Middle East, as well as Africa, Europe and North America, via Etihad's Abu Dhabi hub, he said.

"With the addition of the new Jaipur flights, to Etihad's existing Delhi services, we now fly to two destinations in the world-renowned 'Golden Triangle' region, offering our guests more choice and convenient travel options," Etihad's general manager for India Neerja Bhatia said.
