The city saw a decent rise in the number of examinees for the European Diploma examination in Intensive Care Medicine (EDIC) held in city.
"The popularity of the part-I examination has reached newer heights this year with an increase in the number of candidates from 161 last year to 204 post graduate doctors taking up this exam this year. The EDIC exams, was organised in India for the very first time in 2015," Medica Superspecialty Hospital which is corodinating the exam said in a statement.
Critical Care Medicine is a relatively young specialty which is evolving with the increasing understanding of medical science.
"This year we are conducting the EDIC Part 1 exam in a bigger way, reaching to more aspiring candidates. This examination has the motto to create a pool of intensivists who will set a benchmark in dealing with critically ill patients," Medica director Dr Arindam Kar said.
