Eurosleep, Nova Speciality to conduct study on sleep disorders

Eurosleep, a world leader in treatment of snoring and sleep apnea, has joined hands with Nova Speciality Surgery, a leading chain of centres in India offering speciality surgeries, to conduct a "research study on sleep disorders" on a sample of Indian population.

Sleep disorders are a new area of interest globally, as studies have shown that more and more lifestyle diseases are attributable to sleep disorders, says a release issued today on the occasion of the "World Sleep Day".

According to Dr Ashim Desai, Senior Consultant, ENT at Nova Speciality Surgery, Mumbai, "Although there is a lot of

global data, till now there has been no comprehensive specific data available for the Indian population. Therefore, the need of the hour is to conduct research studies in this area.
 

"Globally validated set protocols are being instituted at all centers. Nova's involvement in this research aims to achieve complete online data integration, in order to generate meaningful insights from the collected data for the Indian population," said Dr Magne Tvinnereim, Global CEO, Eurosleep.

"With this association, Nova-Eurosleep Sleep Clinics have become the largest provider of diagnostic and therapeutic modalities for the comprehensive study and management of sleep-related disorders in the country. It is established simultaneously at five of our of centers located in Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad," said Dr Mahesh Reddy, co-founder of Nova Speciality Surgery.

Sleep apnea is not just a problem of the elderly population as it affects children as well. Consequences of untreated obstructive sleep apnea among children includes failure to thrive, enuresis, attention-deficit disorder, behaviour problems, poor academic performance and cardiopulmonary disease, the release said quoting experts in this field.
