Actress Evan Rachel Wood has come out in support of her close friend Amber Heard, who has accused her estranged husband Johnny Depp of domestic abuse.

Heard, 30, filed divorce from Depp, 53, in May citing irreconcilable differences before alleging he was abusive during the 15-month-old marriage.

Quoting a tweet which states, "Amber Heard's sexuality is only relevant in that bi women are at far greater risk of experiencing intimate partner violence," Wood agreed by simply saying "boom", reported Female First.

"People associate [bisexuality] with deviant behaviour and it somehow justifies someone not being worthy ... It's crap! And just there for headlines and it does not help the problem. Especially because when people refer to [Heard] they didn't use that word until it was necessary.

"It was an easy target and it was unfair."

Wood came out as bisexual in 2011 and wants to provide a voice for others who identify the same.
