In order to effectively check crime against women, a female constable will be posted in every police station of Madhya Pradesh, state Director General of Police (DGP) Surendra Singh said.
"A woman constable will be posted in every police station of the state to effectively check crime against women," Singh told reporters last evening.
Admitting that there is a shortage of manpower in police force, he, however said that in the last four years efforts were made to recruit more personnel. Five thousand new posts were also sanctioned by the state government in this regard, he said.

Replying to a question, he said police will be made more sensitive, effective and accountable towards society.
He also said that at present there is no plan to change the police uniform, but discussions on the issue are going on.
On the issue of shifting Inspector General and Deputy Inspector General-level offices for Chambal region in Morena from Gwalior, he said efforts would be made to shift such offices in the already constructed new buildings and in future officers posted in Chambal will have to function from their divisional headquarters only.
