Press Trust of India Lucknow
Rashtriya Ulama Council (RUC) today alleged that evidences in the infamous Dadri lynching case were "tampered" with while questioning the reports of Dadri and Mathura labs on the sample of meat sent for examination.

"Only two kgs meat was sent to Dadri lab but the report suggested the quantity of meat was four to five kgs, implying there was some amount of tampering somewhere," President, Maulana Aamir Rashadi Madni claimed while talking to reporters here.

He alleged a conspiracy by senior police officers, including the SSP.

"From Dadri lab, it was sent to police station in two plastic containers and by the time it reached Mathura lab, the containers turned into glass jars," he said, adding the sample of the meat recovered was not sealed properly.

"First of all, the meat recovered from the spot was more than 150 metres away from Akhlaq's house," Madni said.

He demanded stay against the arrest of Akhlaq's family members and quashing of an FIR.

Madni also demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav over the issue.

Acting on court orders, police had on July 15 lodged an FIR against the deceased Akhlaq and six family members for alleged cow slaughter.

Earlier, residents of Bishada village had met the Gautam Budh Nagar SSP on June 5 to press for filing of an FIR against Akhlaq's family.

Judicial Magistrate Vijay Kumar then ordered investigation and lodging of the FIR of cow slaughter against the deceased's family.

Mohammad Akhlaq (52) was beaten to death on September 28 last year in Bisara village in Dadri by a mob over rumours that he and his family had stored and consumed beef, triggering a fierce debate over intolerance in the country.
