State's Chief Electoral Officer Ankur Gupta said the task of tracking pre-2006 (Electronic Voting Machines) EVMs through Election Commission of India's (ECI) new mobile app will take place from August 1.

Gupta said training in this regard has been imparted to the concerned staff.

"The districts have 11,504 Ballot Units and 1,321 Control Units available with them," a press release issued by the state government said.

"In consonance with the decision of the ECI to track all pre-2006 EVMs online through its newly-developed mobile application, the task of EVM tracking will be carried out in the districts of Haryana from August 1 to 10," the release quoted Gupta as saying.

The detailed discussion regarding the whole process has been conducted during a meeting held today with representatives of national and state-recognised political parties, he said.

Gupta urged them to depute their field functionaries to gain more knowledge about the process.
