An alleged woman kingpin of a module involved in the EWS admission racket today surrendered before a court here, three days after her daughter was caught by the cops in connection with the scam which is being hotly pursued by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police.
The accused -- Punita -- surrendered before a court in Rohini after her daughter Kajal was arrested by the Crime Branch for her alleged involvement in the racket of fake nursery admissions in prominent schools of the city, a senior police officer said.
The mother-daughter duo was behind the admission of scores of wealthy children under Economically Weaker Section (EWS) quota at several prominent schools using forged income certificates and other documents, the officer said, adding that they charged Rs three-five lakh per admission.
The Crime Branch was trying hard to arrest her after her daughter was held, he added.
While Punita headed the module, her daughter Kajal, a Delhi University student, used to assist her, he said, adding that the two had made a lot of money through the racket.
The Crime Branch, which is investigating numerous EWS admission rackets in the city, has busted several modules and arrested nine persons so far.
