Former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA Banwari Lal Kushwaha was arrested by Maharashtra police from a Rajasthan jail in an alleged cheating case pending against him in Aurangabad, police said today.
Kushwaha was produced before a court in Aurangabad today which remanded him in police custody till August 7, a senior police officer said.
"We arrested Kushwaha on July 31 in connection with the cheating case registered against him Aurangabad," said Dipali Dhate-Ghadge, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime).
Another official said the Kushwaha had been wanted in connection with the alleged cheating case of Rs 10 crore.
However, he didn't share details of the case.
Kushwaha was lodged in the Rajasthan jail in connection with an alleged murder case.
His wife Shobharani Kushwah currently represents Dholpur seat on the BJP ticket.
