Former chief minister P K Dhumal today welcomed the 10-year tax exemption extension given to Himachal Pradesh till March 2027, saying the move would help create new jobs and boost industrial development.

The state will have sustainable industrial growth for the next 10 years because of the exemption, the BJP leader told reporters

here.

Hailing the decision MP of Hamirpur, Anurag Thakur, said that the move would aid in promoting manufacturing in Himachal Pradesh and allow industries to seek refund through Direct Benefit Transfer.

The MP has also written to Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh for increasing the limit to Rs 20 lakh for the benefit of small traders and removal of other additional taxes for the benefit of the business community.

Himachal Pradesh being a special category state has the GST revenue threshold at Rs 10 lakh and under the Composition Scheme at Rs 50 lakh, he said in the letter to Singh.
