The brother of a CPI-M functionary was today arrested on charges of cheating a woman of Rs 2.5 lakh by promising her a job at a local-self government department where her deceased husband worked, police said.
P Satheesan, brother of former CPI-M Kannur district secretary P Sasi, was picked for questioning based on a complaint by the woman.
Satheesan collected Rs 2.5 lakh on various dates by promising the woman that he would get her the job of her husband, police said.
He was arrested under IPC section 420 (cheating), police said.
