Ex-health officer gets 3-yr jail in graft case

The special anti-corruption court here today awarded three years' rigorous imprisonment to a former Indore Municipal Corporation health officer who was accused of amassing disproportionate assets worth Rs 48 lakh.

Judge D N Mishra also imposed a fine of Rs five lakh on the accused, Apoorva Vora, under Prevention of Corruption Act.

According to public prosecutor Saket Vyas, Vora was found to have acquired assets of Rs 48,60,584 disproportionate to his known sources of income during his service.

The Lokayukta police had conducted a raid at Vora's premises on May 18, 2002.
