Ex-Kakinadamayor gets six-month jail in cheque bounce case

A court today sentenced a former Kakinada mayor to six-month jail in a cheque bounce case.

After examining the facts brought on record, judge Sanyasi Naidu pronounced Saroja guilty.

According to the prosecution, she had borrowed Rs 5 lakh from one Srinivas in 2008. She did not return the amount to Srinivas when the promised deadline arrived.

Later, Saroja issued a cheque which bounced following which Srinivas approached the court to recover his money.
