Ex-KV principal suspended on charges of sexual abuse

The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), which comes under the HRD ministry, has suspended a former principal who was allegedly involved in an incident of sexual abuse of a girl student.

According to an official statement released by the KVS, former KV Hebbal Principal Kumar Thakur who was allegedly involved in the incident of sexual abuse of a girl student has been suspended.

An inquiry committee was constituted by the Deputy Commissioner KVS Regional Office Bangalore on the direction of KVS headquaterrs New Delhi to probe into the alleged incident of sexual abuse, the statement said.

The decision of suspension is based on the preliminary inquiry report conducted by the committee, however as per the provisions of Education Code for KVs a Summary inquiry will further be conducted, it added.
 

The inquiry was conducted by the committee from 9th to 11th Feb and on 13th and 14th Feb 2017. The KVS Headquarters received the inquiry report on 16th February 2017, Thursday.

After detailed examination of the Report, the Commissioner, KVS Santosh Kumar Mall placed the accused Principal under suspension with immediate effect, the statement said.

In order to ensure free and fair inquiry, the KVS had earlier transferred the accused Principal on administrative grounds to KV Karwar, it added.
