Former Madhya Pradesh minister and senior tribal leader Dayal Singh Tumrachi died at a hospital in Bhopal early today following a brief illness, his family sources said.
Tumrachi was 69.
He is survived by his wife, a son and two daughters, they said.
Tumrachi had served as a minister in the cabinet of former chief ministers Shyamacharan Shukla and Digvijay Singh.
He was first elected as an MLA (of the Congress) from Niwas constituency in Mandla district in 1985. He had again won from the same seat in 1993.
His last rites will be performed at his ancestral village Godri in Mandla district tomorrow.
After he was denied a ticket by the Congress in the 2003 MP Assembly elections, he had contested from Gondwana Gantantra Party (GGP), but lost.
