today shot dead a ex-mukhiya and her husband near Oiyaon village in Bihar's Nalanda district.
The couple - ex-mukiya of Nauama panchayat were fired upon by by the assailants who came in a four-wheeler. The two, who were returning to their village in a car after getting their ailing son treated, died on the spot, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sadar, Rajesh Kumar said.
The assailants escaped after committing the crime, he said adding the slain couple's son survived unscathed.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, Kumar said.
The ex-mukhiya's husband had a criminal background and was involved in a running feud with the incumbent mukhiya, the DSP said adding that the murder could be a fall out of turf war between the two groups.
