Ex-sarpanch injured in pressure bomb blast

A former sarpanch of a village was seriously injured in a pressure bomb blast, allegedly planted by Naxals, at Polampalli village in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh today.

"The Naxals had allegedly planted a pressure bomb on a road between Dornapal and Polampalli, and threw some propaganda material there," police officials said.

"When Vetti Ballu (40) went to collect the propaganda papers, the pressure bomb exploded, injuring him grievously," they said.

Ballu has been admitted to a hospital in Jagdalpur and a police team has been sent to the site, police officials said, adding search is on to nab the ultras.
