Ex-VC of Amul Dairy dies of heart attack during Patel rally

Gordhan Patel, former vice-chairman of Kheda District Cooperative Milk Producers' Union, also known as Amul Dairy, today died while speaking at a rally organised by the Patel community, which is demanding reservations, at Petlad town in Anand district of Gujarat.

The community is seeking reservations under OBC category. 67-year-old Gordhan Patel had been invited by the 'Petlad taluka Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti' to speak at the rally.

"We had organised the rally at an open ground this morning. While speaking, Patel suddenly collapsed on the stage. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead. We were told he died of heart attack," said one of the rally organisers, Nagin Patel.
