A 17-year-old examinee of a higher secondary school at Phulia in Nadia district was shot dead today by unidentified bike-borne assailants.
"Ajay Ghosh, a class-XI student of Phulia Vidyapith, was drinking water from a tap outside the school premises when unknown gunmen appeared on a bike and shot him from close range," Superintendent of Police Sabyasachi Raman Mishra said.
A profusely bleeding Ghosh, the resident of Bhoot Colony at Phulia, was taken to Ranaghat Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Two persons were arrested in this connection, Mishra said.
