An encounter between the security personnel and ultra outfit People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) has taken place in Khunti district today, the police said.
The encounter happened when the security personnel comprising of the CRPF and the district armed police were on routine patrolling in the ultra-infested Jilingburu jungle under Torpa police station, Superintendent of Police Anil Gupta told reporters.
Around 40 rounds were fired by the security personnel forcing the PLFI activists to beat a hasty retreat, he said adding a country-made pistol, a generator set, tents and other items of daily use were recovered after a search operation.
No causality on the security personnel side was reported, he added.
