Excise dept officer commits suicide

A government officer posted at the State Excise department allegedly committed suicide at his residence here today, police said.

Subodh Sharma (53), who was posted as assistant excise officer in Mhow, nearly 25 kms from here, was found hanging from the ceiling fan at his residence in Sudama Nagar, Annapurna police station in-charge Dinesh Singh Chouhan said.

Sharma's wife works as a teacher in Biora in Rajgarh district. He used to stay with her son and a daughter in Indore.

When his son went to Sharma's room on the first-floor of the house this morning, he found his father hanging, following which he informed the police, Chouhan said, adding, cause behind the suicide is yet not known.
 

Police have sent the body for post mortem and registered a case in this regard.
