The vigilance department today arrested an executive magistrate on graft charge from Bihar's Nawada district, an official said.
Acting on a complaint, a vigilance team laid a trap and caught executive magistrate Shyamdev Prasad accepting Rs 4,000 as bribe from near a fast food joint on hospital road in Nawada town, the Additional Director General of Police (ADG), Vigilance, Ravinder Kumar said.
Prasad had demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 from one Awadesh Kumar, a native of Ramnagar village under Town police station area, for expediting a decision on a case against him under section 107 of the IPC, Kumar said.
The tainted official has been brought to Patna for interrogation before his production before a vigilance court for obtaining his judicial remand, the ADG added.
