Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh today said that Narendra Modi would become the prime minister of the country after the next Lok Sabha polls and the exit of the JD(U) from the NDA would leave no effect on the alliance.

"Exit of JD(U) would leave no effect on the alliance. Narendra Modi would be the prime minister after the upcoming Lok Sabha polls," Singh told reporters here.

Singh, who has already merged his fledgling Jan Kranti Party (JKP) with the BJP, said that the party would do exceedingly well in the Uttar Pradesh in the general elections under the leadership of Amit Shah, a close aide of Modi and Uttar Pradesh's party in-charge.

In a separate query, he said that Ram Mandir temple should be constructed in Ayodhya and the issue should not be connected with politics.
