Expedition of visually impaired mountaineers flagged off

An expedition of visually impaired mountaineers, which will begin on October 3 in Uttarkashi, was flagged off here today.

Out of the 22-member team, 15 members are visually impaired and the rest will accompany them on the trek to help them through the terrains, a press release said.

The trekkers have all undergone specially designed training and mentorship from Tata Steel Adventure Foundation.

The trekking to Dayara Bugyal is filled with most unusual and exciting adventures, making it a favoured destination for the adventure seekers.

Situated at an elevation ranging from 10,000-12,000 ft, this vast meadow is second to none in natural beauty in Uttaranchal.
 

The team will begin the expedition on 3 October and will continue their journey till 14 October. The team will be led by Everester Rajendra Singh Pal, Manager at Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF).

Speaking on the expedition, Rajendra Singh Pal, Manager at Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF), said, " This is a significant expedition where we have trained visually challenged team of 15 to experience trekking which will instill confidence and drive their determination to face challenges in life.
