A day after the results of elections to Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC), an elated BJP today said it will explore all "natural possibilities" to get the Mayor's post and it was now the dominant partner in the alliance with Shiv Sena.
"We have won the highest number of seats if one takes into account the total number of seats we have contested across various municipal councils, corporations and gram panchayats. In KDMC, BJP won 42 seats and we have the support of nine other winning candidates," state BJP president Raosaheb Danve said here.
"To understand who is the 'baap' (father/dominant party) now, one has to consider who has the highest number of seats right from the Lok Sabha to gram panchayats. It is BJP which has the highest number of seats, so naturally BJP is the baap (in Sena-BJP alliance) now," he said.

"We are exploring all natural possibilities to get our Mayoral candidate elected in KDMC and Kolhapur Municipal Corporations," he said, adding that BJP felt no bitterness towards Shiv Sena anymore.
"There is no bitterness...Allegations, counter-allegations are over with the end of election," he said.
BJP's strategy of contesting the elections on its own had borne fruit, increasing its strength in the KDMC by five times, he said.
"Party workers are happy with the decision to contest alone. They have found a new confidence. The new Mayor will be elected before November 11," he said.
Sena yesterday emerged as the single largest party in the KDMC bagging 52 seats, but fell short of majority in the 122-member body. The BJP won 42 seats from the previous nine while Raj Thackeray-led MNS bagged nine seats.
Sena today indicated that it was open to joining hands with BJP, leaving the acrimonious campaign behind.
