Japanese media are reporting an explosion in a public restroom at Tokyo's controversial Yasukuni shrine, which enshrines Japan's war dead, including those executed as war criminals.

The blast today caused a minor fire in the restroom, according to TBS TV news. Police reportedly suspect foul play, although other details were not immediately available.

Yasukuni has been the target of criticism from Japan's neighbors, including China and South Korea, which suffered World War II atrocities and aggression.
