Explosives and detonators seized in Jharkhand

A large quantity of explosives and 300 detonators, used in quarry, were today seized from two motorcyclists at Tengadangal village in Pakur district, police

said.

Based on specific information, the district police force intercepted two motorcyclists and seized two quintal of ammonium nitrate, 300 detonators and 400 packets of ammonium nitrate mixture, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Kaushal Kishore said.

He said the explosives were being transported illegally from Nalhati in adjoining West Bengal to Tengadangal for blasting in quarries.

One person identified as Mehrul Sheikh of Nalhati village was arrested and the two motorcycles, on which the explosives were being transported, were seized.
 

Sheikh's other accomplice managed to escape abandoning the two-wheeler, which was among the two motorcycles seized.
