Panic gripped the Kota Railway Station after a packet of explosives was found at a platform on Tuesday.

Explosives weighing over 2.5 kg with fuse and wires were spotted by some people near the platform's stairs, Superintendent of Police, Kota, Sawai Singh said.

"The explosives found are used in mines. The wire and the explosives were separate, so there was no chance of a blast," he said, adding the bomb disposal squad took the packet to a safe place.

The platform was sealed for nearly two hours, he said.
