'Extend cooperation in ensuring NSUI victory in DU polls'

DPCC president J P Agarwal today exhorted district and block Congress presidents and party MLAs to extend their cooperation in ensuring victory of NSUI candidates in upcoming Delhi University Students Union polls.

Agarwal asked them to introduce NSUI candidates to the students in their areas so that all candidates of the party's youth wing come out victorious in the election slated for September 13.

He addressed a large gathering of party workers at DPCC office which was attended by district and block presidents, MLAs, municipal councillors and DPCC office-bearers.

The meeting was also attended by AICC general-secretary and in-charge of Delhi, Shakeel Ahmed, AICC general secretary Mukul Wasnik, Union Minister Oscar Fernandes, NSUI national Secretary Girish.
 

"The party wants victory of NSUI candidates in DUSU polls as it will act as a morale booster for the party ahead of the assembly polls slated for November," a Delhi Congress leader said.

A resolution thanking Congress president Sonia Gandhi for passage of the Food Security Bill in Lok Sabha was also passed at the meeting.

Another resolution wishing "good health and long life" to the Congress president was also passed in the meeting.

In his address, Agarwal said NSUI has always fought for the welfare of the student community and held many rallies to secure the democratic rights of the students.

He said the students who enroll at various colleges of Delhi University on merit from all over the country expect an egalitarian atmosphere, with every student getting equal treatment.

Speaking on the occasion, Shakeel Ahmed said NSUI through its commendable works has emerged as a popular students' union.

Wasnik said it was a special responsibility on the part of Congress workers of Delhi that they get actively associated with DUSU elections by helping NSUI candidates.

Fernandes, in his address, described NSUI as the "biggest" students' organisation in the country and exhorted party workers to ensure victory of NSUI candidates in DUSU polls.
