Extradited antique dealer to be brought to Chennai tomorrow

A special police team from Tamil Nadu which took custody of 64-year old Kapoor, wanted since 2008, from a prison in Colonge in Germany would arrive with the fugitive by a flight in the wee hours, police said today.

The special team comprising two SPs and an Inspector had left for Frankfurt on July 9, after Interpol asked them to take custody of Kapoor, who was nabbed in Germany in October last following a red corner alert.

The state police has been on the look out for Kapoor since 2008 his role was suspected in theft of idols from temples in Ariyalur district.

 

He has been arrested in connection with the Ariyalur case registered in 2008, police said adding only after interrogation it would be known whether he was involved in any other similar cases.
