India has made extradition requests for 110 fugitives: Govt

India's requests for extradition of 110 fugitives are at various stages of execution in various countries, government said on Thursday.

The US, UAE, the UK, Canada, Germany, Nepal, Bangladesh, Iran, Singapore, Australia, Nigeria, Denmark, South Africa and France are among the 47 countries with which India has inked the treaty till date, Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.

India has also entered into extradition arrangements with nine more countries, he said.

"We have sought extradition of fugitives who are wanted for crimes in India from foreign countries. 110 such requests for extradition of fugitives who are wanted in India are at various stages of execution with various foreign countries," Singh said.
 
"According to available information, 62 criminal fugitives, including those wanted for crimes related to terrorism, have been successfully brought back to Indian since 2002," the minister added.
