Eyles appointed scientific advisor of junior hockey team

Hockey India today appointed Matt Eyles as the scientific advisor of the junior men's team.

Eyles would be working on the players' fitness keeping in mind the FIH Junior men's World Cup to be held here from December 6-15.

"Our junior men's team has performed well at the recently concluded Sultan of Johar Cup. I am sure Eyles will play a key role in the physical and mental fitness of our players, as they prepare for the major tournament," said Hockey India secretary general Narinder Batra.

Eyles, who would be shortly joining the team, said, "There is a lot of potential in the team and together with the coaching staff, I will bring that potential out in each athlete."
 

Eyles has worked with the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles (Australian Professional Rugby League Club) for almost two years as strength and conditioning coach.

After completing his Human Movement Degree at the University of Technology, Sydney, Eyles began working in the Sports Science Unit at the Sydney Academy of Sport where he developed strength and conditioning programs that assisted athletes in sports such as swimming, surfing, rugby union and athletics.
