The Formula One event at the Buddha International Circuit here has given a reason to smile for the city's hospitality industry.
The local hoteliers are all geared up as the inflow of customers have zoomed due to the event. Earlier, hotels were dependent on spillover customers from Delhi.
"Greater Noida has already become an important destination for international events and we aim to make our hotel the preferred choice for business, events and celebrations in the area," said Crowne Plaza General Manager Greesh Bindra.
"Formula One event has provided annual season to hospitality industry. Hotels occupancy increases to hundred per cent in October when the event is held. More such events at Budhh International Circuit will further increase business," said Raman Bhatia general manager Mosaic Hotels .
In addition to the F-1 event, several other events being held here, too, have contributed to the hospitality business.
"India Expo Centre at Greater Noida too has contributed in increase in volumes of customers at hotels during conferences and expos held there. Round the year more than a dozen events are held there. Now Auto Expo to be held there will further boost business," Bhatia said.
"Hotel rents fluctuate round the year. During high demand rates increase manifold and during lean period rates go down even to half of the normal rates. During Formula One event room rents go up by 4 to 5 times the normal rates," said Hitesh Girdhar, a hospitality industry expert.
Before this, hotels in Delhi were preferred by foreign and domestic tourists over those in the city. But, now the hospitality industry here has took off due to its proximity to the event venues.
"Greater Noida hotels get the maximum benefit as teams crew including drivers stay there due to proximity to the circuit," he added.
