The state committee of the party took the decision at its meeting, a party release said here. Lawrence is the Parassala Block Panchayat member.
The bypoll, date for which is yet to be announced, was necessitated by the resignation of former CPI-M MLA R Selvaraj last month.
Selvaraj, who quit the party and the assembly membership following differences with party leadership, would face Lawrence as a ruling UDF candidate in the coming bypoll. PTI JRK MVG BN
