A likely face-off between two
communities was today averted here by police when a group was stopped from reaching a venue where some people had gathered to mark the 30th anniversary of the Operation Bluestar.
Activists of a socio-religious group had gathered outside local bus stand on National Highway to commemorate Operation Bluestar, police said.

Meanwhile, few people who were holding a 'yajna' in memory of Army jawans who had lost their lives during the Operation Bluestar, tried to reach the venue where people were gathered to commemorate Operation Bluestar, they said.
The marching group was stopped and a large number of police force was deployed at the site, police said, adding the situation is under control in the city.
