Facebook has launched a new app aimed at celebrities only that will let public figures more easily interact with their fans.
The app called 'Mentions' is aimed at helping the Facebook-recognised or verified celebrities manage their public figure pages on the social network.
"From cheering on World Cup players to checking out updates from favourite celebrities, there are more than a billion interactions between public figures and their fans on Facebook every week. We want to make these interactions even better," Allison Swope, Product Manager at Facebook said.

"We're introducing Facebook Mentions, a new Facebook Creative Labs app that makes it easy for public figures to talk with their fans and each other on the go.
"As a public figure, Facebook Mentions lets you: See what fans are saying about you and join the conversation," Swope said.
Facebook Mentions can help celebrities share their story by posting updates, sharing photos or videos, or hosting a live Q&A. It can help them join popular conversations on Facebook and see the latest posts from people they follow.
Celebrities can also get streamlined notifications about their posts, including mentions from other influencers or the media.
Mentions is currently only available for people with verified Pages in the US.
"We plan to roll out to more countries and verified Profiles in the coming months. If you are an admin of a verified Page, you can request access to Mentions directly. If you are a public figure, you can also download the iPhone app to request access," Swope said.
