Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said the facelift to a street around the Golden Temple would be "instrumental" in boosting tourism in the holy city.
He claimed new entrance gate and Golden Temple plaza has given a new look to the city while maintaining its age old traditional grandeur.
Addressing a gathering at the entrance plaza of Darbar Sahib, Badal said it goes to the "credit" of SAD-BJP government which undertook "momentous task" to preserve the glorious cultural heritage of Punjab.

"Concerted efforts of the state government in this regard, were to perpetuate the glorious and rich legacy of our great culture especially among the younger generations so as to enable them to connect with their roots," he said.
The Chief Minister also announced to construct "magnificent gates" on all the ways leading to the Darbar Sahib.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment and Punjab BJP unit chief Vijay Sampla said the beautification project of Amritsar has "further propelled" the tourism potential of the holy city.
