Ferro alloys maker Facor Alloys has declared a lockout at its plant in Andhra Pradesh following agitation by workers.

"A lockout has been declared in the plant with effect from February 4, 2014," the company said in a filing to the BSE today.

The firm which Manufactures high and low carbon ferro chromes, high carbon ferro manganese and ferro silicon has its facility at Shreeram Nagar, Garividi, in Andhra Pradesh with 72,000 tonne per annum capacity.

Earlier it had informed the BSE that ongoing agitation of lorry loading workers since February, 2013 has resulted in short supply of raw materials to the plant and despite bilateral talks between management and workers the dispute has not been resolved.

"As a result, plant operations are badly hit due to acute shortage of raw material. Due to disruption of further supplies of raw materials to the plant, the existing raw material stock available in the plant has exhausted and the operations at the plant have been put to a complete halt, since night shift of January 10, 2014," it has said last month.
