Haryana Food and Drug Administration officials today raided a factory of medical devices at Bahadurgarh for allegedly operating without any manufacturing licence and seized products worth Rs four lakh from its premises.
Acting on a tip-off, the FDA officials raided the factory M/s Super Cardio Pvt Ltd and seized the devices, which were were being manufactured under "unhygienic conditions" without following the good manufacturing practises provided in Schedule-M of the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, Commissioner, FDA, Rakesh Gupta told reporters here.
The devices manufactured in the factory include 'Heart Lung Pack' which is used in major surgeries, including heart surgery. These devices were supplied to major hospitals in the national capital including government institutes, Gupta said.
A case under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act has been registered in this regard, he said, adding that said Act provided five years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 12 lakh for the offence.
