The BJD today denied allegations being made by BJP against party president and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, saying the facts about the party's expenditure had been 'deliberately twisted'.

The BJP has approached the Election Commission, Income Tax and Enforcement Directorate alleging that Patnaik misled the people by showing different amounts as his election expenditure in different documents.

"The allegations raised by BJP are false, malicious and fabricated," BJD spokesman and Rajya Sabha MP Pratap K Deb and Lok Sabha member Pinaki Mishra said in press conference.

"The facts related to the financial transactions of the party account has been deliberately twisted so that it seems like some dubious transactions," he said.

Mishra said the chief minister after elections had returned about Rs 4 lakh to the party (BJD) which was not seen by the BJP leaders before making such allegations. The money had been given to him for contesting polls.

Patnaik won from Hinjili assembly constituency in 2014.
