The Congress today accused Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis of protecting Minister of State for Home Ranjit Patil who has allegedly misled people on the status of his aides.

"Patil had publicly proclaimed that Milind Kadam, who was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for accepting bribe from a notary post candidate, was not associated with his office," MPCC spokesperson Sachin Sawant said today.

However, Kadam was part of the Minister's office when the ACB arrested him and his services with the Law and Judiciary Department had ended in January itself, Sawant said.

Sawant produced a letter, which mentioned that Kadam's services had been transferred to Patil's office before the incident.

The Congress leader alleged that there may have been an attempt to recruit people with RSS ideology and sought a probe into such recruitments.

Another aide of Patil, Deepak Kasar, was appointed despite unavailability of his confidential record of five years, he said.

Patil had also violated law by enrolling at two different constituencies, Sawant said.
