Fair price shop dealerships would be suspended if dealers

The Telangana government today said fair price shop dealerships would be suspended if dealers, some of whom have planned to go on strike, failed to pay for ration commodities for December by tomorrow.

"As per the orders from Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Civil Supplies Department has declared Saturday the last day for ration dealers to deposit demand drafts for ration commodities, after which defaulters would be suspended," a release from the the Civil Supplies Department said.

Commissioner of Civil Supplies C V Anand has directed district collectors and joint collectors to appoint new dealers to fill up vacant positions, it said.
 

The government would take a serious note of the strike call given by some fair price shops dealers, it said.

Fair price shop dealers are demanding a hike in commission and provisions such as health benefits, according to a government release.
