Fake arms licence racket busted

Police today claimed to have busted a racket allegedly involved in making illegal arms licences with the arrest of a 55-year-old man here.

Mohan, a resident of Gurgaon village, was arrested after a huge cache of high end arms, foreign made pistols, shot guns, double barrelled rifles, mousers and over 4,000 live cartridges were found at the basement of his house.

The weapons had labels of made in US, Japan and other countries, police said.

"We had received 14 applications for renewal of arms licences at Gurgaon police licensing unit. During examining the previous records of these licences, we suspected a licence forgery and contacted the licence holder," ACP -Sadar Gurgaon, Anil Kumar said.
 

During questioning, the licence holder revealed about the shady deals of Mohan.

Mohan is an active member of illegal arms and licences. He sells such licences and guns for amounts ranging from Rs 3 lakhs to 7 lakhs, Kumar said.

Further investigation is on in the matter, he added.
