Fake certificate case, 8 held

Eight persons, including 5 students have been arrested by police in connection with a fake certificate case in Odisha's Sambalpur district, police said today.

Police also seized the computers and printers used to make fake certificate, besides four fake certificates from the the accused who were arrested yesterday, Inspector In-Charge of Burla police station, Tofan Bag.

While Rabi Shankar Barik, Manas Ranjan Mallick and Ashok Dutta were involved in making fake certificates, Laxmana Ganda, Deba Ranjan Kumbhar, Deepak Suna, Sushant Nag and Dilip Kumbhar had procured the fake certificates, he said.

They have also taken admission in educational institutions by submitting fake certificates, police said.
 

While, Laxmana Ganda has taken admission in the ITI at Hirakud, Deba Ranjan Kumbhar, Deepak Suna, Sushant Nag, and Dilip Kumbhar, have taken admission in N.A.C. College in Burla by submitting the fake certificates, they said.

Laxmana Ganda had applied for plus two admissions in NAC College of Burla this year. However, when the college authorities verified the certificate, they found that the certificate submitted by Laxmana was a fake one, police said adding the college authorities lodged a complaint in Burla police station in this regard in June this year.

Subsequently, police started investigation and arrested Laxmana yesterday, Bag said adding the other accused were arrested on the basis of information given by Laxmana.

"Rabi Shankar Barik is the prime accused. He was luring the students with fake certificates. Manas Ranajan Mallick and Ashok Dutta were making the certificates in computer. Manas and Ashok were getting Rs.4000 for making each fake certificate. They were taking 4 hours to make a fake certificate," said the IIC.

"While Manas Ranjan was making the fake certificates in his computer centre in Hirakud, Ashok Dutta was making certificates in his house," said Bag.
