Five people were arrested and fake currency notes with a face value of Rs 20 lakh recovered during raids conducted at nearby Attingal and Kozhikode Thursday, police said.
A team led by Rural Superintendent of Police P K Madhu arrested the accused and also seized machines usedfor printing the counterfeit notes.
Fake currency with face value of Rs 6 lakh was seized from Shamir, the prime accused, and 3 others at Attingal, they said.
On the basis of the information received following their questioning, another person from Kozhikode with fake notes having face value of Rs 14 lakh was also arrested.
The raids were conducted following a tip off from a private hospital.
